The Community and Family Education Project

The Community and Family Education Project is a dynamic project that works collaboratively with parents, caretakers, and  community partners to overcome the challenges that many youth and families in our communities face.

AMTP believes that it takes a strong community to raise strong youth, and that when addressing youth issues, all voices need to be represented. AMTP works to bring the voices of our participants and families to the table, both through advocacy and partnership, and by facilitating community programming to increase community awareness of relevant issues.

“The program gave me understanding and helped me reconsider my attitude and approach to issues.”

“Listening to other parents helped me feel less alone.”

“It made me less worried about my children.”

“I plan to talk and listen more to my kids!”

Project Strategies:

Parenting education programs and support groups

AMTP hosts parenting education programming and support groups throughout the year. Please check our events calendar and sign up to receive our newsletter for updates on classes

Lending library of books and manuals

The AMTP office has a lending library of books and manuals available to visitors for free. Please stop in to peruse our selection!

Crisis intervention and resource referral

When parents of AMTP youth need support in a time of crisis, they can call on AMTP staff for that support. This support goes both ways, as AMTP participants may also solicit support from AMTP staff if their family issues become too difficult to navigate on their own. AMTP staff will refer youth and families to resources within their communities as needed when crises arise.

Community coalition and bringing youth voices to the table

In both Carroll and Belknap counties, there is increased coalition and collaboration among a variety of youth-serving organizations, agencies and institutions, and AMTP is bringing our participant’s needs and voice to the table with the hopes of  solving the most pressing problems facing youth today.
